Description

M Tullius Denarius. 119 BCE. 3.76 grams. Helmeted head of Roma right, ROMA behind Rev: Victory in quadriga right, wreath above, X below; M TVLLI in ex. This reverse is generally thought to represent the moneyers ancestor's (Ser.Tullius) victory over the Sabines; he being the first Roman to recieve a laurel-wreath. Another non conflicting theory is that the wreath represents a famous eclipse that occurred on November 11th, 120 BC. The Romans declared this event indicated divine support for their recent conquering of southern France   This coin was given to me by my father who purchased it in Italy in the 60's.  He was an avid collector but me, not so much.  The coin is in excellent condition and I have taken it to a dealer to authenticate it. All sales are final.  I will ship the coin once payment is received through paypal within two days.
